OCC urges Thames Valley Police to help improve road safety in Oxfordshire
Councillor Andrew Gant, the council’s Cabinet Member for Transport Management, told the Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Barber that more action was needed after the number of people killed or seriously injured on Oxfordshire’s roads rose in 2022 – the first increase for many years.
Noting that Thames Valley Police’s action on road safety appears to be behind other forces, Cllr Gant asked them to "take action against this rising wave of dangerous driving before we find even worse casualty impacts in 2024”, pointing out that although resources are tight, no action is much more expensive than action.

Elections for the Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner are taking place on 2 May this year (at the same time as the City Councillor elections), so if you want a PCC that prioritises road safety and tackling road violence, make sure you use your vote.
